Cell Phone Towers Health Hazard

Are cell towers a public health hazard ?
A municipal commissioner in Andhra pradesh had ordered the demolition of all cell towers in the town,on the pretext that they are a source of health problems causing even death in some cases.Could this be true ?Is it not a hasty step doing without proper scientific investigation.What happens to our mobile communications if the towers in the country are demolished. Can we do away with our mobile phones now?
Mobile itself can be hazardous for health in some cases.
As for the towers, the EM Radiation can cause health hazards(if you are constantly exposed to strong radiation); but they are more hazardous for birds(specially the small ones), & according to some studies, insects also.
